Are contractors licensed in Texas?
Not the way people assume. Texas has no statewide licence for general contractors, roofers, or remodelers — so anyone claiming to be a "licensed contractor" here should be asked which licence they mean.
What actually matters: general liability and workers' comp insurance you can verify with the insurer, permits pulled in the contractor's name, licensed sub-trades for electrical and plumbing (those are state-licensed), and voluntary certifications like RCAT. We carry all of it and we'll show you the paperwork before you sign.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most Houston homes are one to two days for the roof itself, weather permitting. The longer part is scheduling and materials, which typically runs one to three weeks from signing — longer immediately after a big hail event when every supplier in the region is cleared out.
Will you help with my insurance claim?
We'll document the damage properly, give you photographs and a written report, and meet your adjuster on site to walk the roof with them. What we won't do is act as your public adjuster or negotiate the claim on your behalf — that requires a licence we don't hold, and contractors who do it anyway are breaking Texas law.
We also won't "waive" or "eat" your deductible. That's insurance fraud in Texas, it's a felony over a certain amount, and it puts your claim at risk as well as ours.
How much does a kitchen remodel cost?
The honest answer is that it depends almost entirely on whether you're moving plumbing and walls. A refresh keeping the existing layout is a very different number from gutting it and reconfiguring. We'd rather come out, look at it, and give you a real fixed price than publish a range that's wrong for your house.
Do you take a deposit?
Yes, a deposit against materials once the scope is signed, then payments tied to completed stages — never a large payment up front for work that hasn't started. If a contractor asks for half the job in cash before they've ordered anything, that's the moment to stop.
What happens if you find something behind the wall?
We stop, photograph it, and call you with a price for the extra work before doing any of it. Rot, previous unpermitted work, and surprise plumbing are all common in older Houston houses — the scope we write says exactly how that gets handled so it isn't a negotiation in the middle of a torn-open kitchen.
